The National Curriculum Framework 2005 (NCF 2005) is the fourth National Curriculum Framework published in 2005 by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in India.

The NCF 2005 serves as a guideline for syllabus, textbooks, and teaching practices for the schools in India. The NCF 2005 has based its policies on Learning without Burden and National Policy of Education 1986–1992.

NCF 2005 focus group discussion, Pedagogical approaches, use of constructive approach in teaching-Learning process in class room transaction. Construction of the knowledge in the class starts in a unique way, which is based on previous/past experiences/knowledge of the learner and their ideas. Learner construct by their experiences and Ideas.  Meaning constructed by one learner may not the same as constructed by another learner so every learner construct his/her own meaning. In this situation teacher role is not a contain provider rather than facilitator, who facilitate/ develop learner.

Objective of teaching and learning English in accordance with the NCF 2005 are-

  • Learning of English aims to subsume the languages of home, larger social group, street, and neighborhood, i.e. languages(s) that a child acquires naturally from her/his home and societal environment.
  • Foster an individual’s feeling of dignity and self-reliance.

  • linguistic development of children- help kids to speak, think, and express themselves in English. Listening, Reading, Writing ans speaking with the proper procedure and teaching stategy.
  • structuring and verbalising their mental processes.
  • Abstract cognition and knowledge acquisition through literacy.
  • Facilitate Mother tongue Language (L1) proficiency. Teaching to understand English language through L1 Language.
  • Ensuring child centric input-rich-communicative situation to help child to Aqua their language better.

The main purpose of the teaching English is: helping the student to Aqua a command over the language in different situation.  NCF-2005 concerned with its communicative function. Therefore, up to the school stage, v our came of teaching English could be the acquisition of four language skills-

1. Understanding English when spoken (listening) specific practice has to be provided to enable the peoples to understand ordinary, daily English speech of a non technical nature, spoken at a normal speed.

2. Speak English (speaking): the people should be able to speak in correct sentence with correct specific way.

3. Understand English when written (Reading): enabling the peoples to understand and enjoy the commonplace language of everyday life.

4. Write English (Written): the people able to write letter and paragraph for everyday every day situation.
